Hiya! I know, I’m sorry. I’ve been sparse and few and far between here. But I promise we have jumped back in the saddle. Pinkie promise!
I’m also pretty sure you are like “um what is chocolate pepperoni and do I want it?” The answer is YES. Basically it is a giant log of chocolate with nuts and vanilla wafers mixed in, sliced, and placed on a dessert pizza. If you haven’t heard of/had dessert pizza you need to jump on this bandwagon. I love regular ol’ pizza, but dessert pizza is ten times better. After pre-baking a pizza crust, I poured on some raspberry sauce, plopped on the chocolate pepperoni, and drizzled it all with a nice powdered sugar icing. There is sweet on sweet on sweet with this. Get it!
The lovely folks over at Fleischmann’s Yeast asked me to take part in their Baking a Difference campaign. Fleischmann’s has also teamed up with No Hungry Kid and my girl Joy the Baker to promote this amazing cause. Fleischmann’s  also sent me a baller package of pizza things, bread mixes and baking yeasts. The good news is that one of you get to win this bonkers package too, yesss! You will get your own set of baking essentials and pizza tools (along with a few cute Halloween kitchen tools) from Fleischmann’s  while Baking a Difference gets to stand in the spotlight as well. It’s a win all around!
The prize package includes:
·         Premium pizza crisper and stainless steel pizza wheel, plus Halloween-themed spatulas and pot holders
·         A basket of Fleischmann’s Yeast, Karo Syrup and Simply Homemade varieties, including the new Pretzel Creations, to help you get baking
They wanted my twist on a classic pepperoni pizza and since I’m big on sweets I decided to give it a sugary twist.
All you have to do it enter below in the comments for the prize package. The contest is open to US residents.
To enter, tell me in the comments below what you would bake for an amazing bake sale. Would it be your favorite cookie recipe or a tried and true pie passed down through the generations? Tell me! A winner will be selected at random. Contest closes on Monday, November 4th at 12:00am.
If you want to check out Karo Syrup on Facebook visit them here and Fleischmann’s Yeast here.
I got involved in #BakingADifference by putting my own sweet spin on Fleischmann’s Classic Pepperoni Pizza. If you want to bake up treats for the Baking a Difference Campaign, show me! Share you photos on Facebook using hashtag #BakingADifference and you could be selected to be featuring alongside other bloggers in a e-cookbook, what whaat?! Thanks for supporting the businesses that help this little blog grow!
Dessert Pizza with Chocolate ‘Pepperoni’ + Baking a Difference Giveaway
Ingredients
- For the chocolate pepperoni:
- 10 ounces semisweet chocolate chips (vegan)
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/2 cup chopped vanilla wafers (I found a box of vegan wafers at Whole Foods, but any vegan cookie will do!)
- 1/4 cup almond milk or other non-dairy milk
- For the crust:
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 packet Fleischmann’s Pizza CrustYeast
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 2/3 cup warm water
- For the raspberry sauce:
- 2 cups raspberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1/2 cup almond milk or other non dairy milk
- For the icing:
- 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/3 cup almond milk or other non dairy milk
Instructions
- For the chocolate pepperoni:
- Melt the chocolate with the almond milk in a medium microwave safe bowl for 20 second intervals until melted. Stir in the chopped vanilla wafers or cookies and walnuts. Place in the refrigerator for 4 hours. Scrape from bowl and roll into a log wrapped in parchment paper or plastic wrap, forming a log about 2 inches in diameter. Place in freezer and freeze until solid.
- For the dough:
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl, stirring until a smooth dough ball is formed. Knead dough on a well floured work surface until it is smooth and elastic, about 4 minutes. Roll out dough into 12-14 inch round and place on greased pizza crisper or pizza stone. Bake for 5-7 minutes, or until dough is lightly browned.
- For the raspberry sauce:
- Combine raspberries and almond milk in the bowl of a food processor or blender. Blend until smooth. Set aside.
- For the icing:
- Combine powdered sugar and almond milk, whisk until smooth and combined. Set aside.
- To assemble the pizza:
- Spread the raspberry sauce evenly over the pre-baked pizza crust, top with slices of chocolate pepperoni and drizzle with powdered sugar frosting. Cut into wedges and serve.

I love dessert pizza. My dad used to make peanut butter pizza with marshmallows for the “cheese” and chocolate chips for the “sausage.”
