I mentioned this in a previous post about non-boozy drinking, but really, drinking booze these days kind of makes me feel terrible after like..2 drinks, so I’m finding new ways to go alcohol free, but still get to take part in a fun drink! It’s so fun just sipping on water, when all you really want is a fun sparkly drink with a little sweetness to it. So, when I spied blackberries on sale over the weekend and discovered that I had way too many lemons rolling around in my produce drawer, this super simple blackberry lemon spritzer was born! You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know that throwing together a fun drink just takes bubbles, fruit, and a few berries.
I usually don’t keep that many bubbly things around the house, but when I spied some cans of Zevia Ginger Ale in the fridge, I knew it would be perfect for this drink. Just a little sweet, all the bubbles and it was on hand..so no trip to the store, wins all around! Especially good was that this blackberry lemon spritzer came together in minutes, no simple syrup and no muddling techniques required, so it really satisfied my need for something fun to drink after work, without all the work. If you’re like me and need a semi-happy hour after you get home from a long day, this is the drink for you! I’ve recently also discovered that snack plates (crackers, jams, etc.) are so easy to make and look fancy, so I usually pair a non boozy (or boozy, depends on the day) drink with a plate full of snacks and take a minute to relax after the day is done. I really can’t WAIT until it’s warm enough to relax on the porch with one of these blackberry lemon spritzers in hand, spring weather can’t come back soon enough!
If you aren’t lucky enough to find blackberries on sale like I did, any berry will do. This is also a perfect place to use up that frozen fruit you might have hanging around the freezer, especialyl if they are mixed berries or something tart, like cherries. The sweetness of the Zevia balances out any tartness in the berries, plus the squeeze of lemon juice is perfect for reviving any flavors that might have gone flat in the freezer. Cheers to spring being on its way!

I love a good fizzy drink! And the ginger ale, lemon, blackberry combo sounds delicious. Definitely putting it on my “getting ready for warmer weather” list 😉

I have never tried Zevia. Will pick it up today when I go shopping. I, too, have lemons hanging around as well as fruit that needs a place to go. Yum! Thanks, Abby!

I’ve been getting down with non-boozy drinks lately too. I always have ginger ale/ginger beer on hand and it makes it so easy to mix up some fresh and flavorful. These ingredients have me dreaming of Summer! We had some wicked nice weather here for like 2 days. But now it’s Winter again. Boo hoo.

UGH, I’m so ready for spring and this winter won’t go away!

What a delicious yet simple elixir, Abby! I’ve not tried zivia yet, but always have some fizzy neutral bev hanging around like club, ginger ale or ginger beer. I tend to use those when dousing alcohol, but need to remember there are fizzy non boozie drinks too. And I’ve a ton of frozen berries in the fridge. I totally hoarded blueberries last summer. I thought I ran out, then checked the garage freezer and OMG! SO much more! 😀 I love the blackberry and lemon combo! xo

Ha – as we learned this weekend, we’re not too good at drinking anymore! At least we did it up on Friday night. 😉 This spritzer sounds like just the non-boozy drink I’ll need after work this week.
