Traveling has its ups and downs.
Pro: You’re going somewhere awesome (I hope)! No work! Woo hoo!
Con: I have to pack and squeeze 4 pairs of shoes in a carry on? (Psh, I’m not paying $25 to check it) Wait, you mean I have to come back from this trip? Well drat.
Something that could be an pro or a con of traveling: snacks. I know snacks should always be a pro, but I’ve had trips where I bring all this awesome travel food; peanuts, granola bars, apples, the list goes on! But, it wasn’t what I wanted at that moment. You know, those $15 tacos sounds way better, while also costing as much as an entire meal at a restaurant in the regular world outside of the airport. See ya peanuts!
But, the good news about these Oatmeal Chocolate Peanut Butter Date Bites is that they are super easy to throw together, travel perfectly, and taste like cookies while being fairly healthy. Peace out airport food that I have to take a loan out to pay for, I’m sticking to my balls of cookie goodness!
Oatmeal Chocolate Peanut Butter Date Bites
Ingredients
- 1 cup pitted dates
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons almond milk
- pinch of salt
- Combine all ingredients in food processor (blend on low until thoroughly combined and moist dough is formed. Roll into balls and store in refrigerator.)

Same here! I love that I can grab these and eat them without having something weird on the plane or in the office! Hummus does not = airplane food.
Becky @ Olives n Wine says
YUM. I wish I had had this recipe for my trip a few weeks ago! This would have been so much better than the gross meal I found at the airport 🙂
The Frosted Vegan says
Agreed, those meals always seem so much more appetizing until you sit down with them!

How long do these last in the fridge? They look delicious! Seem like a good breakfast on the go too!
The Frosted Vegan says
I would say for a week or so, perhaps more since there isn’t any dairy in them. They are great for breakfast!

I’ve made a similar version to these for a pre-workout snack. I LOVE them!

Me too!! It’s hard to stop at just a few 🙂

I love making little snack bites like these! It saves me so much money from all the Larabars and Kind bars I don’t have to buy 😉 They look soooo yummy!
The Frosted Vegan says
Agreed! Those are always so tempting, but then I always think “I could make those better! (and cheaper!)”

I love making my own snacks and have tried a couple of recipes using dates. Can’t wait to try your version as well.

Averie @ Averie Cooks says
These look so good! They remind me of a bar I make that’s similar, in bar form, not balls. So cute as little balls!
The Frosted Vegan says
Agreed! I like the bars, but sometimes having snacks in little packages is more fun : )
