A sweet and refreshing fall drink, this pear bourbon smash has mint, pear, and just a hint of maple syrup!
It’ falltime and the livin’ is easy! Ok so it really still feels like summer (hi, still 90 here) and I am a little fearful that we are skipping right over fall here in the Midwest and headed straight for the wintertime blues. Yes, summer is GREAT and I adore the extra warm weather, but I love that fall in-between time too! To deal, I’m sipping on a pear bourbon smash and calling it a day, you feel me?
I wanted to come up with a drink that’s reminiscent of my favorite popsicle recipeย and doesn’t need any muddling, fancy tools or even a strainer! While I might own all kinds of cake pans and kitchen gadgets, I do not, in fact, own a drink muddler or strainer. It seems kind of odd, considering that I love a good cocktail, but I just haven’t jumped for those yet! I do have a pretty sweet cocktail shaker that my grandparents passed down, so I’m not a total weirdo without any cocktail making tools. Just the essential ones (oh well!). The best part about this pear bourbon smash? You don’t need those tools! Just pop everything in the blender, blend, add bourbon and pour over ice. Done! I added a bit of extra mint to my cocktail, but you can adjust according to your taste. Also, I originally wanted to sweetener to be brown sugar but went with maple syrup. It feels a little more fall in this crazy heat wave we are having here. Cheers!

I am loving these boozy recipes you’ve been posting lately! A cold, well-made cocktail (or granita!) is really the perfect punctuation to these hot summer-to-fall days!

What brand of bourbon do you use? I have no idea whatโs good or bad out there…
Thanks!
Heart of a Baker says
Hi Tricia! I actually used Trader Joe’s bourbon in this recipe, but any mid level brand is usually good. Bulliet is probably my second favorite ๐
