With so many seasons of change and thoughts of new habits swirling around (or already dissipating, whatever it may be!), it seems like the new year has finally started settling in quite nicely. The turn of the year was only a couple of weeks ago, but we are already halfway through the month! At this rate, it is going to be humid August in the blink of an eye.
This smoothie is another attempt at using up more of the frozen bananas I have stashed away, along with the rouge bag of cacao nibs I told you about in the snack cake post last week. Really, the key to preventing the inevitable big chunks of chocolate in the smoothie is to start out blending on low and steadily increasing until everything is silky smooth.
If we were sipping this dark chocolate spiked smoothie together on a Friday morning, I would tell you that I am excited about what this year can bring. Looking forward to changes in my career (but will miss my old cubicle mates, le sigh!), excited about celebrating a few wonderful weddings (A couple of them being my 2 absolute best friends), and all the unexpected little things that will happen here and there. Mostly, I’m excited to grow in the blog space and share an endless amount of pictures and recipes with you, my lovely readers. This is just a chance to say I love that you visit and listen to my weird ramblings (sometimes about cabinet monster, sometimes I just show you pictures of smoothies) and tolerate the occasional picture of my furry cat baby (I would have 5 more cats if my boyfriend would let me) . Here’s to sipping your daily chocolate and fruit servings all in the same glass, cheers!
p.s. The sun was being a brat and hiding from me after work, so I didn’t get many high quality pictures of this chocolate smoothie goodness. I think it’s time to invest in a tripod if it’s going to keep this business up.Print
- 2 bananas (frozen)
- 2 cups non-dairy milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- pinch of cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons cacao nibs
- 2 ounces dark chocolate (chopped)
- 2 tablespoon ground flax seeds
- Combine all ingredients in the bowl of a blender. Cover and blend on low and work your way up to high, blending until smooth. Top with dark chocolate chunks and cacao nibs.
