Are you a whiskey lover or a whiskey hater? For a long time, I was NOT a whiskey fan (hello college+too much whiskey, yuck!), but within the last few years I’ve found that I actually enjoy a nice whiskey or bourbon, especially in baking. Otherwise, my absolute JAM for cocktails was an Amaretto Sour, for the longest time. My best friend suggested it on the night of my 21st birthday and from then on to my late 20’s, it’s been a favorite. It was so delicious and easy to order, perfect! Since then, I’ve moved on to my go-to cocktail being the Old Fashioned (holler at you Wisconsin!), among all the craft beers we have here in WI. So, when I got the opportunity to receive and giveaway a copy of The North American Whiskey Guide, I jumped at the chance. Booze reviews and aero whiskey sour cocktail recipes abound!
I chose to try out making the Aero Whiskey Sour, which originally includes an egg white in the recipe, but since I don’t get down with eggs, I left it out. I’m also usually kind of confused when it comes to picking out a good bottle of booze (I’ll admit it, I judge by the label), so the main part of this book is super helpful in picking out a bottle of quality whiskey or bourbon at your price point. For this cocktail, I went with good ol’ Jim Beam, but down the line, I know I want to invest in a nice bottle of quality bourbon for sipping. My next try at a recipe out of this book is going to be the Manhattan recipe, my grandpa’s favorite drink during my grandparent’s daily happy hours. Now, on to the giveaway details!
To enter the giveaway, just leave a comment below telling me your favorite go-to drink at the moment. Like I said, mine right now is a brandy old-fashioned (sweet, please and thank you), but if yours is a beer or wine, leave that too! Entries will be accepted until December 14th at midnight and are only valid in the US and Canada. Good luck and may the booze be with you!
