A healthy matcha smoothie chock full of bananas, coconut, and all kinds of goodness! Perfect for breakfast or a quick power snack.
Looking for a great post-workout smoothie or afternoon boost? A matcha coconut smoothie is the perfect combo of pep in your step and coconut banana goodness.
How to make a matcha smoothie
Making a matcha smoothie is so easy! Put your matcha, coconut, almond milk, banana, and ground flaxseed into a blender. Blend on high until smooth and creamy.
Your banana can be frozen or fresh, just depends on what you have on hand. The coconut can either be flaked or shredded, both work just fine. Also, you can use any non-dairy milk you have on hand!
What is matcha?
Matcha is a powder made of ground green tea leaves customarily made into a hot or iced drink. Most of the time, it’s blended with milk, sweetener, and vanilla extract.
The caffeine in matcha smoothie is more of a slow burn than coffee. It’s not quick a jolt like coffee, more of a smooth kick of energy.

How to make the best smoothie
In order to make the best matcha smoothie, it’s all about the order of ingredients!
It might seem like the order of ingredients in a smoothie doesn’t matter, but it really does! If you’re frustrated with getting chunky smoothies or ones that don’t quite blend up, I’ll tell you the order of ingredients is key.
You should order smoothie ingredients in the following way:
- Liquid (almond milk)
- Softer ingredients (like the banana)
- Frozen ingredients
- Other (coconut, matcha powder, vanilla)
This order when making a smoothie allows the blender to pull down the softer ingredients, blending them up first and then blending in the frozen ingredients.
