I’m back in action and ready to roll into the new year! I took a bit of a break over the last couple of weeks to just regroup and lay on the couch a little bit (or maybe a lot). In the meantime we’ve gotten a heavy dose of snow, wedding pictures have started rolling in (!!!) and I’ve started looking into planning out the next year in a different kind of way. I hope to just continue to grow and expand the blog this year, so expect new kinds of posts and maybe some video content sprinkled in as well! I’m finally starting to feel like I’m hitting more of my blogging stride, so adding in projects that I’ve wanted to pursue for so long feels awesome. But, as always, if there are recipes you are looking for or want more of, tell me! I’m all ears.
Enough about me and the new year, let’s move on to this matcha smoothie! I know that basically everyone on the internet is posting smoothie recipes this time of year, especially with uptick in healthy eating and resolutions that come with the fresh start to a year, but trust me, this one is kind of like your morning tea/caffeine combined with ingredients you probably already have on hand. Since this version of my coconut banana smoothie did so well a couple years ago, a version with a matcha kick is even better. I hadn’t really gotten on the matcha green tea latte train until recently, when I won a basket chock full of teas and matcha at Chopped Con. I flew all my goodies home with me from Kansas City and got to work on trying to perfect my matcha latte at home, which turned out way easier than expected. So, when I was looking for just one more thing to add into my pre-yoga class smoothie last weekend, my nearly empty tin of matcha called out to me from the back of my kitchen cupboard. The caffeine kick is more of a slow burn than coffee and the green tea taste gives it just enough of a departure from a regular banana coconut smoothie, viola, a perfect matcha smoothie.
